ClickBank vs. PayDotCom vs. Click2Sell: Who Ya Got?

Before we get the review started let me introduce myself. My name is Andy Wilson. I am the founder and owner of Click Collectors, an SEM company that helps small businesses drive targeted traffic to their web site. You can check me out here www.clickcollectors.com.

Now on to the review. I have used all three of these sites, ClickBank, PayDotCom, and Click2Sell, as an affiliate and to sell re-branded online products (my side project). This is my personal opinion of the pros and cons of each. Feel free to agree, disagree, or add anything you would like in the comment box below. Let's get started!

ClickBank

ClickBank is the largest and most popular of the three sites. It is free to sign up for affiliates. For merchants there is a one time $49.95 activation fee plus $1+7.5% of each sale you make.

Pros:

  • For affiliates, it has the biggest marketplace with tens of thousands of digital products.
  • For merchants, it has the most affiliates registered to sell your products.
  • Accepts payment in 13 different currencies.
  • Earn up to 75% for affiliate sales.
  • Direct deposit is available.
  • Weekly payments.
  • The new HopAd Builder is great if you have a website.
  • You don't need a third party payment processor.
  • Get paid (a little) to sell ClickBank.

Cons:

  • Big marketplace means a lot of crap. Affiliates have to sift through endless products that you couldn't sell to Helen Keller to find the good ones.
  • The good products have A LOT of competition.
  • You have to make a minimum number of sales to release get your first check...not a big deal but a little annoying.
  • You can ONLY sell digital products. Nothing you can touch, smell, or taste.
  • When selling products you can only price your product at a max of $50 for the first 8 weeks. After that you can apply to increase the price.
  • You can only sell one product per account (well, you can only have one landing page per account). These means if you have multiple products you pay multiple set up fees.

Conclusion:

ClickBank is a great site, don't get me wrong, but it's recent saturation has turned me off (as an affiliate). On the other hand, if you have a great digital product, this is the place to be. You will have numerous affiliates bending over backwards to sell your stuff.

PayDotCom

PayDotCom is well known internet marketer, Mike Filisaime's, ClickBankesque project. It is free to sign up for affiliates. For merchants, the first product is free then after that there is a one time $29 if you want to sell multiple products. There is also a per sale fee that ranges depending on the price of the product.

Pros:

  • You can sell more than one product on one account.
  • No set up fee for first product.
  • You get paid immediately into your PayPal account.
  • No review process for your product or website...so use any dirty selling tactics you please!
  • You can sell membership sites, digital, or physical products.
  • Growing affiliate base to sell your products.
  • Get paid to sell PayDotCom.

Cons:

  • Mike has a slight reputation for slacking on site upkeep...but it's not too bad.
  • You need PayPal, no biggie sign up here.
  • Not enough stats listed on the products when you're browsing through the marketplace.
  • Can be a little strange to navigate.
  • Too many "pitch page" attributes throughout the site (I can't stand testimonials...I mean seriously: "This is the greatest review site I have ever read" -Justin Whitener, CEO of Review Readers, LLC)
  • Right after you sign up you are immediately sent to a pitch page to buy Mike's PayDotCom tools (which are actually pretty helpful) for just $100! Then you say no thanks and...wait now you can buy them for just $50! What a deal!

Conclusion:

Once you get through the lousy aesthetics, cheesy pictures, and pitch page crap, PayDotCom is actually a pretty good place to make some money. It is not too saturated yet and it is cheap and easy to sell multiple products of any kind...here check out this little video:

Click2Sell

Ah, now this is a sharp looking site. This European (so you know it's chic) web site is relatively new to the scene. I just recently stumbled across it and I'm glad I did. It is free to sign up for affiliates and merchants. Merchants will just pay a small fee for each sale.

Pros:

  • Great looking site that is very easy to use.
  • Earn up to 95% commissions for affiliate sales.
  • Fantastic tracking system.
  • Great customer support.
  • Tight referral links so no one steals your commissions.
  • Great niche products in the marketplace.
  • Accepts USD, GBP, and EUR
  • Sign up from anywhere in the world
  • Accepts payments from PayPal, Moneybookers, Authorize.net, WorldPay, or Google Checkout.
  • Get paid to sell Click2Sell.
  • Useable stats listed while browsing the marketplace. Take a look:

C2S Marketplace

Cons:

  • You need to sign up with PayPal or Moneybookers to get paid...again no biggie.
  • Receive payments within 3 weeks after the end of the month.
  • Not as popular so fewer affiliates to sell your products.

Conclusion:

I am still discovering the ins and outs of Click2Sell, but right now it is my favorite one of the three. It's clean, easy to use, and has fantastic tracking and reporting built in. I think you should try all three to see for yourself, but, in my opinion, Click2Sell is the site most deserving of stardom (if that makes any sense).

I hope you found my review useful and I helped you make an informed decision on where to sell your products or sell other peoples products. Let me know what you think in the comment box below.
